Del Water Gap
Kaleah Lee
Scrawled in the margins of a William Carlos Williams poetry book dusted off in his late grandfather’s study, S. Holden Jaffe found a note that had once been left for his grandmother: “I miss you already, and I haven’t left yet.” A simple gesture preserved for decades illuminated a reality that Jaffe now faced at present: a perpetual state of similar departures.
The years during which Jaffe began writing, recording and performing as Del Water Gap were ones fueled by the kind of hedonism that you can get away with when you’re young and hungry in New York City. But at some point between exiting the pandemic and releasing his long-awaited debut album via Mom + Pop in 2021, that lifestyle had swiftly (and necessarily) vanished. Now midway through a global tour behind
that record, he had found stability in the constant transience through his relationship and his sobriety. Still, the rigor of spending every night in a different hotel room was taking its expected toll, and by the time he was expected to put pen to paper for the next Del Water Gap project, Jaffe felt spiritually depleted.
Any trace of cynicism began to dissipate instantly upon his first session with producer Sammy Witte (Harry Styles, SZA) who encouraged Jaffe to abandon the self-conscious subtext of his previous work and make the record he’s always wanted to make but never allowed himself to. That meant hoisting his sonic palette up into panoramic pop heights, first on “Losing You” and later on lead single “All We Ever Do
Is Talk,” a joyride hinging on massive existential doubt: “will we ever get that feeling again?” Can the cardinal jolt of young love last beyond its initial spark? Can one still achieve highs without the drugs? Are the best times really over, or are they still within reach?
I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet doesn’t wait for the answers, generating its own propulsive thrills through skyward hooks and resplendent imagery further punctuated by additional production from Mike Malchicoff (King Princess, Kanye West) and Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers, Manchester Orchestra), instrumental contributions from Clairo, Zach Dawes, Mason Stoops and Rob Humphreys, and a duet with Arlo Parks, the glowing “Quilt of Steam.” As its striking cover suggests, I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet presents a portrait of a man who is weathered but tenacious, standing upright and adamant on forging his way through an atmosphere of ennui with all his might.

Shake The Sheets 20th Anniversary
with Ekko Astral
Ted Leo is a unique artist for these times. He provides a near perfect combination of politics, art, punk values and humor in his songwriting and the combination is resonating with people all over the world. Having toiled for years in the punk underground with both his former band Chisel and his solo effort Ted Leo/Pharmacists, 2004 is definitely the year Ted Leo is primed to break out into the mainstream.
In February 2003, Lookout Records released the critically acclaimed “Hearts Of Oak,” a gem of a record that received accolades from Spin, Rolling Stone, Magnet, the New York Times, MTV. Touring and promotion in support of “Hearts” was massive and included 5 US tours, a run in Japan and the UK and an appearance on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” A brief respite from touring was required mid-way through his second US run, when his vocal chords became enflamed due to the rigorous schedule of radio station visits, in store performances and nightly gigs. Ted began a new regimen of vocal warm ups, fewer shows in a row and a dram less Irish Whisky and found his voice to be stronger than ever.
In early 2004, in between some short tours, Ted began to write his fourth solo album. Motivated to keep pushing himself as a songwriter, performer and cultural critic, he shut himself in the basement of his childhood home in New Jersey and began to write. The songs that resulted in “Shake The Sheets” are fresh, smart, and passionate. Producer Chris Shaw proved to be the perfect partner for Ted and his sonic vision for the album. Well known for his work in producing the last 2 Bob Dylan albums, Shaw has also worked on many other diverse projects, from Dashboard Confessional, to Bell Biv De Voe to the classic Public Enemy album, “It Takes a Nation Of Millions to Hold Us Back.”
Ted Leo is an artist who is well poised for a career with no limits. He will continue to write pop rock gems and work hard on the road to connect with his fans who continue to grow with him as he connects with more and more people. Do not be surprised if in 25 years you are dusting off your album jackets and along with Joe Jackson, Nick Lowe, Paul Weller you throw on Ted Leo to change your mood for the day.

SILVERSUN PICKUPS
with Hello Mary
Silversun Pickups’ sixth album Physical Thrills came together as a serendipitous accident during a dark time. The LA band began 2020 by touring in support of their record released the previous year, Widow’s Weeds. But the pandemic halted those plans, with the members including guitarist and singer Brian Aubert, bassist Nikki Monninger, drummer Christopher Guanlao, and keyboardist Joe Lester, finding themselves stuck at home. In that resting period, Aubert wasn’t focused on Silversun Pickups; instead, he channeled his energy into taking care of his son, Nico, while his wife Tracy worked.
But as much as his focus initially shifted from the band, he couldn’t escape the new melodies germinating in his head. “I would sneak off and start writing these songs, and I didn’t know what they’re for because I didn’t really think about Silversun on any level. I was just doing it to keep myself calm and keep myself company,” says Aubert. The songs were so different from what he’d previously written for Silversun Pickups that he initially thought he was writing a musical. There were “dream shanties,” gentler vocals, horror-inspired sounds, and other exciting new elements coming to mind.
The band finally was able to gather in person for a live-streamed acoustic performance on Halloween for The Dark Zone Network’s virtual music festival Queen Mary, and it was there that Aubert revealed the new material to his bandmates. They readily embraced the new direction—and so did producer Butch Vig. The band reunited with Vig, who first worked with Silversun Pickups on Widow’s Weeds, recording the record at the famed producer and Garbage member’s home.
When Aubert first reached out to Vig, he wasn’t sure if the band was making an EP or a full record; Widow’s Weeds was still fresh for Silversun Pickups. But once Aubert made plans to visit Vig and play him what he had, the music began pouring out. He immediately began recording with Vig, later having the rest of the band join.
Once the band began working on Physical Thrills together, they made some of Silversun Pickups’ most stunning songs yet. The record doesn’t depart drastically from the sound the band’s fans know and love, but rather enhances it with previously-unexplored fixtures at play.
Physical Thrills was colored by the pandemic, but isn’t meant to be solemn; instead, Aubert explores his own comfort in the temporary, newfound isolation. There’s a juxtaposition of playfulness with angst from having so much time to process untapped emotions. That’s something that comes through in the album’s instrumentation, too, with wide-ranging sounds that transform according to the weight of the lyrics.
There are tracks with shoegaze-infused distorted synths and guitar, like opener “Stillness (Way Beyond)”; bouncy, pop-tinged danceable tunes (“Empty Nest,” “Hereafter (Way After)”); pared-down ballads (“Alone On A Hill”); and a collection of “dream shanties,” as Aubert refers to them.
The titles of those shanties call back to “Dream At Tempo 119” off the band’s 2006 debut record, Carnavas, tying the band’s beginnings with the current, evolved iteration of Silversun Pickups. But, this time, the instrumentation matches the lyrics. Aubert forgoes the heavy guitars to instead create magical lullabies: “Dream At Tempo 050,” “Dream At Tempo 310,” and “Dream At Tempo 150.” Each carries a secret code in the title with numbers personal to Aubert.
With such an exploratory record, the band members felt free to traverse new ground. Guanlao, who usually shies away from fills on drums, took inspiration from The Beatles documentary Get Back, throwing some into Physical Thrills, influenced by Ringo Starr’s work on Let It Be. Whereas for Monninger, this record allowed her to showcase her vocals at the forefront more than in previous work. Joe also took a larger role in composition on this record, writing the piano part for “We Won’t Come Out,” which became the backbone for the song.
The making of Physical Thrills also allowed for whimsical moments, including Aubert creating a distinct tapping noise by incorporating the sound of drumsticks hitting Vig’s Grammy in “Hidden Moon,” and playfully pelting balloons at Monninger while she played “Hereafter (Way After)” on bass to create less tension.
While this record features such an eclectic mix of melodies, each song is interconnected with each other, meant to be experienced as a whole body of work. “All of our records are designed for people who want to listen to them all the way through and hopefully stick around with it,” says Aubert. “After a while, maybe you’ll catch on to the little things—not just the [pattern of] the dream songs, but maybe you’ll hear that, and you’ll hear a melody from the first song in the last song. There are crossover things happening.”
Lester says, “Physical Thrills is exactly the record that we wanted to make, which I’m really stoked about because sometimes you look back and think, ‘Well, that’s maybe not exactly how we would have done it’ when you go back and listen to it years later.’ But I feel really proud of this one. I think the songs that Nikki sings on are like the best ones we’ve done for her to sing on. The lyrics are better than they’ve ever been.”
Monninger adds, “We’ve been together for twenty-two years; it’s really interesting that we still love doing this. We know that we’re fortunate to still be together after all these years, seeking out the silver lining. I feel like we still have many more things to say, and we’re so happy with how this album turned out.”

WHAT A VIEW TOUR
with special guest BEN HAGGARD
Eleven-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson is “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” according to the Washington Post. He is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards from both the CMA and ACMs.
His 2008 album, That Lonesome Song, was certified platinum for 1 million in sales, and his 2010 ambitious double album, The Guitar Song, received a gold certification. In addition, he won two Song of the Year Trophies, for “Give It Away” and “In Color,” both from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.
He has received tremendous praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and other publications, many of which have hailed his albums as masterpieces.
In 2012, the Alabama native released his fifth studio album, a tribute project to late songwriter Hank Cochran. The Grammy-nominated Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran paired him with Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Ray Price, Elvis Costello, George Strait, Vince Gill and Merle Haggard.
In 2013, the Nashville Scene’s 13th annual Country Music Critics’ Poll named it the year’s best album. (Two years earlier, the same poll named Johnson’s The Guitar Song as the year’s best album, and Johnson himself as best male vocalist, best songwriter and artist of the year.)

Two Door Cinema Club mix guitar-driven post-punk hooks with dancey, electronic polish. They first gained attention with their 2010 debut album Tourist History and singles ‘Something Good Can Work’ and ‘Undercover Martyn’. The band have continued to evolve, peaking at #2 in the UK’s official Albums Chart with 2012’s Beacon, and experimenting with Giorgio Moroder-esque disco and synth pop on 2016’s Gameshow. The album also hit the UK Top 10 and paved the way for 2019’s new wave-inspired False Alarm and 2022’s Keep On Smiling.
Hailing from Bangor and Donaghadee, Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club comprises lead vocalist, guitarist and programmer Alex Trimble, guitarist and vocalist Sam Halliday, and bassist and vocalist Kevin Baird. The trio began playing as Two Door Cinema Club in 2007 and continue to stand the test of time in 2024 and beyond.
With a back catalogue of five hugely successful records, sold out shows and headline festival slots across the globe, the band returned last year in 2023 with new single ‘Sure Enough’, alongside brand new U.S tour dates and additional UK arena dates in Hull, Doncaster and Liverpool. This year sees the band return to the Main Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival for a seventh time since their debut set on the NME/Radio 1 tent back in 2010.

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band are celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary at this special Stone Pony 50th event!
Hailing from Rhode Island, the band quickly adopted New Jersey as their second home while becoming one of the hottest East Coast circuit bands by the late ’70s. JCBBB frequented top Jersey Shore venues including the Fastlane, Big Man’s West, Tony Mart’s and The Stone Pony. They burst on to the national scene in the 1980s with the Eddie and the Cruisers motion picture soundtrack.
The hit single On the Dark Side held the No. 1 position on the Billboard Rock charts and the MTV video charts for five consecutive weeks. The album sold more than 3 million copies and was certified Triple Platinum by the RIAA. The fictional band Eddie and the Cruisers portrayed in the film was ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the 25 greatest movie rock bands.
John Cafferty and the BBB is still revered by fans and critics alike as one of the top live rock shows around. Their shows are generally a good time rock ‘n’ roll marathon loaded with the Cafferty hits, fan favorites, and plenty of R&B classics. Three founding members are driving the band into their 50th year: Gary Gramolini on lead guitar, Michael “Tunes” Antunes on saxophone, and John Cafferty with vocals and guitar.
John and the band always work the Pony fans all over the venue. Be ready to grab your drinks if the band starts jamming on your bar! Join us for what is always a memorable Pony show. Early showtime ia 8 pm with special guests to be announced.

ABOUT THE STRUTS: The Struts have been a live sensation since they first erupted onto the scene with their certified Platinum anthem, “Could’ve Been Me,” taking the No. 5 spot on Alternative Radio and introducing the world to their triumphant, timeless rock sound. Following the release of their critically-acclaimed debut, 2016’s Everybody Wants, the British rockers set out on the road, bringing their energetic tracks alive on stage with larger-than-life performances and cementing their reputation as a must-see live act. Lead vocalist Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliott, and drummer Gethin Davies have continued to prove themselves worthy of that distinction since first coming together in Derby, England back in 2012. They’ve opened for the likes of the Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, and Guns N’ Roses, while selling out shows across the globe and leaving a trail of unbridled rock collections, including 2018’s Young & Dangerous and 2020’s Strange Days, in their wake. Their on-stage prowess and perpetual musicality have allowed them to reach the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s Viral Top 50, garner more than 850 million on-demand streams. Now, The Struts have taken the raucous nature of their live shows and transmuted it into an album, fusing their arena-sized energy into their most concentrated and exciting songs to date. “This record showcases each individual member’s strengths,” Spiller says of their fourth album and first full-length release on Big Machine/John Varvatos Records, Pretty Vicious. “It’s some of my favorite music, hands down, we’ve ever conjured up. It’s the record everyone’s been waiting for.”

For nearly four decades Donavon Frankenreiter has been traveling the globe, first as a professional surfer and now as a musician. Born in Southern California, Donavon spent most of his youth chasing waves, turning pro at the age of 16. These days instead of surf competitions, it’s concert halls that bring Frankenreiter to town, where he entertains audiences with his unique blend of laid-back grooves, philosophical lyrics and soulful delivery. This year, Frankenreiter is releasing his first studio effort in nine years, out Sept. 20, 2024. The album, entitled Get Outta Your Mind, marks the 20-year anniversary of his self-titled debut album.

SOMETHING CORPORATE
Out of Office Tour 2024
on The Stone Pony Summer Stage
with Hidden In Plain View
“The band and I couldn’t be more excited for these upcoming dates,” shares front man Andrew McMahon. “We’re having more fun together than ever and the generosity of the fans, both online and at last year’s shows, made it impossible not to come back and do a few more. We hope to see you there!”
The core members of the Orange County, California quintet – Andrew McMahon(vocals, piano), Josh Partington (guitar), Kevin “Clutch” Page (bass), Brian Ireland (drums), and William Tell (guitar) – reunited in 2023 for main stage performances at the When We Were Young festival and three sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and Anaheim. These five special gigs, their first official shows together in 20 years, left their dedicated fanbase clamoring for more. The reunion performances also saw McMahon debut a one-of-a-kind upright piano fully wrapped in Christie MicroTiles LED displaying images and lyrics from throughout the band’s catalog, slated to be front and center once again on the Out Of Office Tour.
Something Corporate first formed in 1998 when its members were in high school and in a short period of time created quite the stir before going on hiatus in 2005. During its tenure, the highly adored SoCal band released multiple albums, including their major label debut, Leaving Through The Window, in 2002 via MCA Records/Drive-Thru Records, which premiered at the top of the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, and 2003’s North, which entered the Billboard 200 at #24. During its heyday, the band toured extensively worldwide, including a summer on the Vans Warped Tour, graced the cover of Alternative Press magazine, and performed on late-night TV including an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Collectively, Something Corporate – hailed as “one of the most respected groups in the scene with their incredible hooks and emotionally transparent music” (Alternative Press) – has sold more than 1 million total records.

BROOKS NIELSEN of The Growlers Chinese Fountain 10th Anniversary Show
Brooks Nielsen, lead singer of surf-psych icons The Growlers, revisits the band’s classic album, Chinese Fountain, to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Nielsen will perform the album from start to finish (and then some) this fall at 26 very special North American shows.
Chinese Fountain is The Growlers’ fourth studio album and sees the band evolve from a psych-circus, while remaining true to the band’s “beach goth” essence. It is blessedly direct, with razor sharp songwriting and engaging melodies at the center of every song; “Big Toe,” “Going Gets Tough,” “Love Test,” “Rare Hearts” and or course, the disco-punk and synth-splashed title track. It was that track that signaled the band’s move from the dive bar to the dance floor–a precursor of sorts to the band’s follow-up, the Julian Casablancas-produced City Club.
Uncompromising, enigmatic, and wildly ambitious, Nielsen isn’t tiptoeing into his solo career. The energetic singer has had a busy couple of years, embarking on headline tours where he regularly performs more than two hours each night, sometimes stretching his show past the three-hour mark.
His latest singles “Tropical Cowboy” and “Chew My Heart Out,” function as a duo. A couple. A gemini gesture to herald his upcoming second solo album, A Ride I’m Waiting For. Originally written in 2014 for Chinese Fountain, the songs are a sneaky flashback to a different era when The Growlers released tracks as “couples.” Not singles, but two songs together, intertwined in thought and expression.
You can hear the new tracks live at the upcoming Chinese Fountain 10th Anniversary Shows as well as songs from Nielsen’s 20-track solo debutOne Match Left and subsequent The Circle and Psycho EPs. Nielsen’s dynamic set lists have been loaded with Growlers’ classics, deep cuts, choice covers, and stripped-down, unplugged mini-sets.
Aided by a live band that includes Growlers drummer Richard Gowen, bassist Brogan Dutcher, keyboardist Cole Riddle, and guitarists J.D. Carrera and Elyadeen Anbar, Nielsen melds the live spontaneity of the improv-driven rock scene with the energy of his punk peers.
